Hovey House Writers Group Meeting

Thursday, Jan 26th is the next meeting of the Hovey House Writer's Group. This group is for anyone who is serious about the writing and wants to meet with other serious writers. Our program varies - sometimes we have open mike nights for writers to read their work, other times the discussion is focused on issues writers deal with. This week we have a guest, local attorney and novelist Joseph Orlando, author of The Fisherman's Son. He will talk about turning a true life experience into a novel and about publishing with ExLibris. The meeting is at 7:00 and you are invited to bring treats to share.

We have been busy contacting published authors in the area to invite them into our group. In upcoming meetings we will be inviting some interesting authors to join us as our guests (of course, they are always welcome to come as participants, too!) Among those we have contacted are Larry Ingersoll, the Gloucester policeman and author of the three-volume history of the Gloucester Police Department, Behind the Badge (www.GPDBehindTheBadge.com). Also, we have had positive responses from Lawler Kang, author of PASSION AT WORK: How to Find Work You Love and Live the Time of Your Life (Pearson Prentice Hall) (www.LawlerKang.com) and from Marc Levy who, with Carl Thomsen, wrote the phenomenal Silent Men Speaking (www.SilentMenSpeaking.com) - we hope to talk Carl into coming, too.

Hi,
Just ran across your website and thought how interesting to find a writer's group at Hovey House. My name is Joan Hall Hovey and I write suspense novels, so I did enjoy the connection. Very nice site. by the way. I wish you all the best of luck with your writing. I live in New Brunswick, Canada, and hope to get an opportunity to visit one day.
